NBA: Toronto Raptors apparently promote Nick Nurse to head coach

The Toronto Raptors are apparently promoting their former assistant coach Nick Nurse to head coach. This is reported by NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

In principle, both parties should agree on the engagement, but final details still have to be clarified, it is said. So far, nothing is known about the contract term.

Nurse has been an assistant with the Raptors for the past six years. Prior to that, he spent six years as head coach in the NBA G-League, winning two championship titles and a Coach of the Year title.

Nurse will take over from Dwane Casey at the Raptors, who once again failed the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second playoff round last season and was subsequently fired.

Casey himself will be head coach of the Detroit Pistons from next season.
