NBA: Media: Dallas and Sacramento could trade down in draft

The Dallas Mavericks and the Sacramento Kings hold the fifth and second pick respectively in the coming draft. According to media reports, however, both franchises are interested in trading down.

This was reported by Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer. According to this, the Kings should try to hoard as many assets as possible. So the Kings could swap their No.2 pick with another team to get another pick, for example.

Already in the last two years the Kings traded their picks down and that seems to be an option this year as well. According to various media reports, the Kings are very interested in Swingman Michael Porter Jr. who is not considered a potential No.2 pick.

So while the Kings are in full rebuild mode, O’Connor says the Mavs are considering attacking the playoffs again. With Dennis Smith Jr. the Mavs have apparently already found their franchise player and could be looking for an experienced and good co-star. However, this could also be found at number five in the draft.
