NBA: Top-Prospect Porter cancels workouts

Top prospect Michael Porter Jr. has cancelled his draft workouts due to a hip injury. Now a medical examination is pending that has never existed in this form in draft history.

Porter was supposed to do workouts with several teams on Friday, but due to a hip injury he had to cancel them. Instead, meetings will be held to discuss the 19-year-old’s health.

The special thing about it: The teams are allowed to bring their own doctors and physiotherapists to convince themselves of the NBA suitability of the Forward. This is a unique approach in draft history.

Porter was long considered a potential No.1 pick, but last year he injured his back and underwent complicated operations. He therefore fell down in the mock drafts, but is still likely to be drawn in the top 10.

In the three games for the University of Missouri, which he played at the end of the NCAA season after a successful recovery, he scored 10 points and 6.7 rebounds.
