NBA: George: 1+1 contract with the Thunder?

According to media reports, the Oklahoma City Thunder can hope that Paul George will sign a new contract with them – but probably not in the long term.

As Marc Stein of the New York Times reports, the opinion circulates within various franchises that the Thunder can convince George of a whereabouts. The wing player becomes Unrestricted Free Agent as he will not draw his player option for next season amounting to 20.7 million dollars.

For a long time, the Los Angeles Lakers were considered the favorite for a commitment, also because PG-13 is said to have expressed the desire to play for them. Now it could come however nevertheless to a further co-operation between the player and the Thunder.

According to Stein, however, it is not about signing a long-term deal. Instead, it is likely that George – if he stays – will sign a one-plus-one contract, i.e. a contract with a term of two years, with the second including a player option.
