Kawhi Leonard met with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich according to media reports. The meeting is said to have been positive – but the star still seems angry.
As various media reported unanimously, Leonard and Popovich met for a conversation in San Diego. However, the player should not have been alone, but accompanied by one or more advisors.
According to Jabari Young of San Antonio Express News, it was a “good” conversation – and another dialogue is expected. This was the first personal meeting between player and coach since the irritations about his calf injury and his expressed trade desire.
However, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN writes that despite the conversation not all tensions have been cleared out of the way. Because the player is still angry about how publicly his injury was handled. Especially Tony Parker’s statement that his own injury was “a hundred times worse than Leonard’s” is said to have disappointed and upset Kawhi. Furthermore, he wished for more support during his rehabilitation.
