NBA: LeBron James about to stay? Cleveland Cavaliers optimistic

The Cleveland Cavaliers are positive about the whereabouts of LeBron James. That, at least, is what GM Koby Altman’s words suggest. He now told about “positive conversations” with LeBron’s management.

“We continue to have good discussions with his management,” said Altman on Thursday, shortly after the franchise point selected Gutad Collin Sexton with the eighth pick of the drag. “I think LeBron more than deserves to handle the contracts the way he does. That’s the way he’s always done it. This is nothing new for us.”

The Cavs went into the draft without knowing about James’ plans for the future. The forward has until 29 June to withdraw the player option of his contract or to enter the free market as an unrestricted free agent.

“We want to give him enough freedom during the negotiation process. But we are currently very satisfied with the discussions with his management. We really appreciate him. He means the world to us and to this city.”
