NBA: Celtics rookie sleeps through performance

Robert Williams was considered a potential lottery pick before the draft and then fell into the lap of the Boston Celtics at position 27. Above all, there were doubts about the attitude of the Big. Now the center slept through the first conference call.

The media call with Williams had to be postponed by one hour because the center could not be reached at first. Williams then admitted that he overslept. “My sister woke me up and said I had a conference call,” the Big told Chris Forsberg of ESPN.

“Right after the draft I went to my aunt’s house and fell asleep immediately because I was so tired from all the hype. It’s been an eventful last two days.”

The Celtics refrained from punishing Williams and instead spoke of a misunderstanding and the different time zones between Boston and Louisiana, where Williams is still present.

Williams was the 27th pick of the draft, but was not at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Instead, the former Texas A&M center stayed with his family in Louisiana and celebrated there that he was drafted.
