NBA: Media: Cavs continue working on Kemba-Trade

The Cleveland Cavaliers have selected a point guard at number eight in Collin Sexton. Nevertheless, according to various media reports, the Cavs’ interest in Kemba Walker from the Charlotte Hornets is still topical.

This is reported by Ken Berger of Bleacher Report. According to this, Cavs-GM Koby Altman will continue to look for ways to guide the All-Star-Guard to Ohio. The best chance for the Cavs is if Collin Sexton would be involved in a trade. According to Berger’s sources, a trade would be the only chance for Kemba that LeBron James Cleveland would not leave.

However, the Hornets don’t really seem interested in letting Walker go, as Kemba is one of the league’s underpaid point guards with a salary of just $12 million and GM has described Mitch Kupchak Walker as the cornerstone of the franchise’s future.

However, Walker will become a free agent in the summer of 2019. Charlotte is interested in an extension, but Walker refuses to do so at the moment because he could earn significantly more money on the open market than through an early extension.

“We don’t want to lose him in the Free Agency,” Kupchak reiterated. “In the spirit of community and franchise, we hope he will not only be here for the next few years, but will also end his career in Charlotte.”
