NBA: Mavs and Warriors Chasing Free Agent Jordan

DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers has apparently retired from his contract and becomes Unrestricted Free Agent. Are the Dallas Mavericks beating up – although there could be competition in the form of the Golden State Warriors?

There are no official statements on Jordan’s decision to waive his $24.1 million player option – but on the one hand the media have reported this unanimously and on the other hand the Clippers have already thanked Jordan via Twitter for his ten years in Los Angeles. The deadline for the decision was Saturday morning at 6 a.m. German time.

This makes Jordan Unrestricted Free Agent. The Dallas Mavericks are considered a favorite on a commitment. You have already negotiated a trade with the Clippers in the days before – but apparently without a result. Now the Texans will try through the Free Agency.

Three years ago, however, this already went wrong: At that time, during the moratorium, the Mavs had reached an oral agreement with Free Agent Jordan, who suddenly signed a new contract with the Clippers.

In addition, the Mavs may have prominent competition this summer: According to insider Marc Stein, the Warriors will also try to sign Jordan. Kevin Durant is considered a good friend of the center and GM Bob Myers was once the advisor to DJ.

Financially, however, the champion cannot offer as much as Dallas: According to Stein, a Taxplayer midlevel exception worth 5.3 million dollars would be the maximum in the first year of the contract.
