NBA: Stephenson and McGee follow LeBron, KCP remains

According to media reports, the Los Angeles Lakers have reached an agreement with three other free agents after the LeBron James coup. Lance Stephenson and JaVale McGee move to Tinseltown, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope gets a new contract.

All three are to receive one-year contracts – that’s all the Lakers ESPN is offering to have in 2019 Cap Space. Three-and-D specialist Caldwell-Pope, who played for L.A. last season, is to receive the trio’s biggest salary of $18 million.

Center McGee, who has recently won the Championship with the Golden State Warriors twice, is to be awarded a minimum veteran contract. He would probably have been offered one of those by the Dubs – now he joins LeBron instead.

Stephenson was last active with the Pacers and is considered a kind of arch-enemy of James. He had clashed with the King several times in direct duels. The 27-year-old is said to have been a top priority for the Lakers after LeBron’s signing became clear.
