NBA: 23 points! Moritz Wagner rocks his Lakers debut

Moritz Wagner convinced on his debut for the Los Angeles Lakers. His team may have lost out in the end, but the German just missed out on becoming a top scorer. Jaren Jackson burned down fireworks at the Grizzlies.

Points: Jaren Jackson Jr. (29) – Tyler Dorsey (18)

Rebounds: DeYonta Davis (7) – Tyler Dorsey (7)

Assists: Brandon Goodwin (5) – Tyler Dorsey (4)

Of course, the duel between Jaren Jackson Jr. (#4) and Trae Young (#5) was the focus here – with a quite clear result at the end. With 29 points Memphis’ Jackson not only won the individual matchup clearly, he also “stole” Young’s speciality and sunk 8 of his 13 attempts in three – including a halfcourt buzzer beater from the centre line.

On the other hand, Young flashed his potential with the Hawks, but for the most part he caught a used evening. Although he played with self-confidence in his throw, he remained cold and hit only 4 of his 20 field throws as well as one of his 11 threesomes.

Points: Georges Niang (17) – Derrick White (22)

Rebounds: Tony Bradley (11) – Amida Brimah (9)

Assists: Grayson Allen (7) – Derrick White (6)

The Spurs started quite weakly into this game, but thanks to Derrick White found their way quickly – only to break in again. In the second quarter, the jazz came around the corner with an intensity – especially in the defense – with which San Antonio was overwhelmed. A balanced score turned into a 17-point lead for Utah before half-time.

After the change of sides, the Spurs didn’t have enough arrows in their quiver to initiate a comeback, although Derrick White still had good actions. Rookie Lonnie Walker disappointed (3/36 FG), Grayson Allen (11 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists) scratched the triple double in the jazz.
