NBA: Warriors coup! DeMarcus cousins moves to champion

The Golden State Warriors have landed a surprise coup and signed all-star DeMarcus cousins. In return, he forgoes a lot of money.

First Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reported about this deal, Cousins himself confirmed it in the meantime. He’s supposed to sign for a year and $5.3 million in the Bay Area.

Cousins was the biggest remaining free agent on the market. The 27-year-old center had previously been associated with the Pelicans, where he was under contract last season, and the Lakers. He could probably have made more money there than at the Champion Golden State.

Cousins tore his Achilles tendon at the end of January 2018 and has been recovering from his injury ever since. When he can play again has not yet been determined. In the games before his injury, he played 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
