NBA: Felton extends in OKC – Thunder pay record salaries

Raymond Felton has reportedly signed a new contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder. This leads to the Thunder setting a new record in player salaries and luxury taxes.

ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Point Guard Felton will return to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a year and $2.4 million. He played there last season and played 6.9 points and 2.5 assists.

This contract leads to the Thunder setting a new NBA record. They are currently paying $164 million in player salaries, which is clearly in the luxury tax bracket. According to ESPN, another 150 million dollars will be due here.

The total sum of around 314 million dollars for the 2018/19 season has never been paid by a team, according to ESPN. What’s more, the 300 million mark has never been exceeded before. By way of comparison, the Warriors, also a team far in the luxury tax bracket, have salary obligations of 155 million dollars for the coming season.
