Donald Trump and his statements to the NFL. A chapter that seems to have no end. At a recent election campaign event, the US President once again had the opportunity to comment on the NFL’s new hymn regulations and described them as “stupid”.
“That’s even worse than not standing,” Trump said at an election campaign in Montana, stating: “It’s no good.” This was the US President’s reaction to the NFL’s new hymn regulation, which prohibits players from kneeling during the anthem but allows them to protest by staying in the dressing room during the ceremony before the games.
According to Trump, players who use the stage to protest should “not play, not be present” and even “perhaps not be in the country. This was what the head of state said on the TV show Fox & Friends. In addition to the players, Trump once again found NFL commissioner Roger Goodell with his criticism:
“This commissioner, where does this guy actually come from, I have no idea”, says Trump: “They pay him 40 million dollars a year, with TV ratings falling by 20 percent.” Compared to the 2016/17 season, the odds in the 2017/18 Regular Season were 9.7 percent lower.
