NFL: L.A. Rams: Todd Gurley promises strike

If it goes after Todd Gurley, NFL players should get guaranteed contracts. The Running Back of the Los Angeles Rams even held out the prospect of a strike to finally fulfill the wishes of many players.

In response to a request from TMZ Sports, Gurley said on Wednesday that a “lockout in a few years’ time” was needed for players in the NFL to receive guaranteed contracts. The Collective Bargaining Agreement of the NFL expires in 2021.

While guaranteed contracts are common in other major U.S. sports, NFL franchises have the option of releasing their players early without having to pay them the full amount of their salary. Many players do not understand this rule.

Among others also with Rams star Russell Okung. According to the offensive tackle, NFL players are those who are “most dependent on guaranteed contracts due to the risks of the game.

Todd Gurley is bound to the Rams for another two years under his rookie contract. The offensive player of the year would thus join the Free Agency in 2020 and, as an absolute star in one of the most physically demanding positions, would benefit enormously from the security of a fully guaranteed deal.
