The Chicago Bulls matched the Sacramento Kings’ offer sheet and kept Zach LaVine. 78 million dollars for four years will go to the High Flyer. LaVine now wants to prove that he is worth the money and silences his critics.
“I know what I’m worth,” LaVine told Nick Fridell of ESPN. “I work hard at me. People, especially on social media, are trying to judge you. But I know my market value in a dry market. “I’m glad now that it’s over and everyone’s happy.”
LaVine received a $78 million offer sheet from the Sacramento Kings, which the Bulls ultimately matched as LaVine was a restricted free agent. LaVine was disappointed that he had not been able to reach an agreement with the Bulls before.
Now the Guard rowed back a little and stated that his statements were taken out of context. “I never wanted to sign an offer sheet, I just wanted to negotiate with Chicago,” LaVine continued. “No matter what happens now, I’ll forget about it and I’m just happy to play for the Bulls.”
Coach Fred Hoiberg also said he expected this saga to damage the relationship between LaVine and the Bulls. “Zach is a good boy, a good player. We want to develop our young players further, Zach naturally plays an important role in this.”
LaVine returned from cruciate ligament injury in the last third of the season and played only 24 games for the Bulls. During this time, the Guard put 16.7 points and 3.9 rebounds out of the field with a throwing quota of 38.3 percent.
