Isaac Bonga and the Los Angeles Lakers have reached the quarter-finals of the Summer League. Moritz Wagner is injured. Deandre Ayton and his Phoenix Suns, on the other hand, fail in the intermediate round.
Points: Cheick Diallo (28) – Jarrod Jones (31)
Rebounds: Cheick Diallo (13) – Jarrod Jones (8)
Assists: Walter Lemon Jr. (6) – Derrick Walton Jr. (13)
An outstanding Derrick Walton Jr. has hoisted the Heat into the second round. The Guard not only played a strong double-double (15 points, 4/9 FG, 13 assists, 3 steals), but also sunk the triple that decided the game in the crunchtime. Also strong was Power Forward Jarrod Jones, who wore Miami as well. The 28-year-old scored a strong 31 points (13/20 FG) and 8 rebounds.
New Orleans held out for a long time thanks to Sophomore Cheick Diallo. The center dominated the zone with 29 points (9/12 FG) and 13 rebounds, but received less support than Jones. Point Guard Walter Lemon had to fight with his throw (6/17 FG), but was the best scorer after Diallo with 19 points.
Points: Semi Ojeleye (21) – Mitchell Robinson, Allonzo Trier (17 each)
Rebounds: Jabari Bird (10) – Mitchell Robinson (12)
Assists: Pierria Henry (6) – Allonzo Trier (4)
That almost got close again. The Celtics led almost the entire game in double figures, but towards the end of the game the lead melted together. But the Knicks could never take the lead. This was also due to the fact that Kevin Knox (15) had problems from a distance this time and was generally only able to sink very little (5/20 FG). Hopefully Mitchell Robinson (17, 12 rebounds), who also played 6 blocks in addition to his double-double, played the second round again.
For Boston, Sophomore Semi Ojeleye again made a good impression, who was the top scorer of his colours with 21 points and could sink another 4 threesomes. Guard Jabari Bird (13, 10 rebounds) recorded a double double. Rookie Robert Williams was not used.
Points: Hamidou Diallo (14) – Markel Crawford (21)
Rebounds: Daniel Hamilton (11) – Jevon Carter (8)
Assists: Daniel Hamilton (8) – Jevon Carter (8)
Strong rookies brought the Grizzlies into the second round. Especially second-round pick Jevon Carter played a really strong game. The Guard played 19 points (7/17 FG) and 8 rebounds and assists each in just 26 minutes and scratched a triple double. No.4-Pick Jaren Jackson Jr. delivered 16 counters (5/10 FG), 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.
In OKC, on the other hand, five players scored double-digit points. Things went less well for Sophomore Terrance Ferguson, who scored just 4 points (1/6 FG) in 29 minutes. Eventually, the second quarter broke Thunder’s neck. In these 10 minutes OKC scored only 8 points, Memphis scored 24.
