NBA: Media: Sixers flashed at Rockets-GM Morey

The Philadelphia 76ers are still looking for a new General Manager after the team fired Bryan Colangelo in June. But with Daryl Morey, they turned down.

According to the New York Times, the Sixers had tried to convince the newly elected Executive of the Year in the service of the Houston Rockets to change, but he had no interest in leaving the Rockets.

Morey is said to have been the top candidate in Philadelphia, but a Sixers spokesman said at the newspaper’s request that no details of the GM search would be released. Head Coach Brett Brown currently leads the front office of the franchise on an interim basis.

Morey’s been part of the Rockets for 12 years. That the Sixers show interest in him is interesting because the former Sixers-GM Sam Hinkie was once considered a kind of “protege” of Morey – Hinkie was again replaced by Colangelo.
