NBA: Durant receives Muhammad Ali Award for Humanity

Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors has been awarded the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award. For years, KD has been working for disadvantaged young people, among others.

The award is presented every year and honours athletes whose services to society go far beyond sport. He was awarded KD in L.A., ESPN served as a platform.

Durant had already established the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation in 2012, which supports disadvantaged young people and gives them access to education, sport and social projects. Earlier this year, KD donated $10 million to a college program in Maryland to help disadvantaged students get into college.

In addition, his commitment and support for the Tornado victims in Oklahoma in 2013 and the fact that he is building basketball fields in poor regions around the world were mentioned.

Besides Durant, Doug Baldwin of the Seattle Seahawks, JJ Watt of the Houston Texans and John Cena of the WWE were nominated for the Ali Award.
