Isaiah Hartenstein can hope for a contract with the Houston Rockets after a good Summer League. According to various media reports, Houston wants to sign the German for the coming season. Negotiations are already underway.
According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, the Rockets are very interested in equipping Hartenstein with an NBA contract. The decisive factors are said to have been the strong training performance and the good games in the Summer League.
Hartenstein was selected by the Rockets last year in the second round and played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the G-League. However, it is not yet clear what will happen to the 20-year-old. Hartenstein has not yet signed a new contract and could play in the NBA, the G-League or even in Europe in the coming season.
The Rockets could use another big one for their squad, though. Restricted Free Agent Clint Capela has still not signed a new deal with veteran Nene and youngster Chinanu Onuaku. The salary of the Chinese Zhou Qi is not yet guaranteed.
Hartenstein averaged 9.5 points and 6.6 rebounds for the Valley Vipers in 18.7 minutes last season. In the Summer League, the German was even allowed an average of 21.9 minutes, which he could use for 10.3 points and 8.0 boards.
