Kevin Love has signed a new four-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The franchise confirmed this today in a statement.
As ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported, the five-time All-Star signed an extension of 4 years and 120 million US dollars with the Cavs. Love is therefore withdrawing from its current five-year contract for the 2019-20 season. He will earn $24 million next season before his new four-year contract comes into effect. 2023 will be the forward at the age of 34 years Unrestricted Free Agent.
To this end, the Cavaliers held a contract ceremony in the Quicken Loans Arena, which is currently in the midst of reconstruction. The signing ceremony was attended by construction workers and staff.
After the departure of LeBron James, there was much speculation about Love’s future. Owner Dan Gilbert and GM Koby Alterman want the Cavs to remain a playoff team and see Love as the cornerstone of this plan. The franchise from Ohio prevents the 29-year-old from becoming a free agent next summer by prematurely extending his contract.
