NFL: Megacontract! Todd Gurley extends in LA

Todd Gurley has decided to extend his contract with the Los Angeles Rams and has expanded his working paper by four years. As ESPN reports, the rams guarantee the running back 45 million dollars in return.

According to the sports channel, this is a record for a guaranteed salary payment for a running back. In addition, Gurley is to receive a signature bonus of 20 million dollars.

The contract binds Gurley to the Rams for the next six years, with whom he reached the playoffs for the first time since 2004. However, the best offense of the Regular Season failed there due to the Atlanta Falcons in the wildcard round.

Gurley had been drawn tenth by the rams in the 2015 NFL draft and was voted offensive rookie of the year after an excellent first season (1106 YDS, 229 ATT, 10 TD). After a performance low in the second season, Gurley, under the new Rams-Headcoach Sean McVay and together with quarterback Jared Goff, resumed his performance in 2015.

The Associated Press voted the 23-year-old Running Back Offensive Player of the Year after the end of the season. Gurley ran again for over 1000 yards and scored a total of 19 touchdowns.
