MLB: Boston eaten after rain break-off

The Boston Red Sox are eaten after their guest appearance at the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Heavy rain caused an early break-off, which completely cancelled the game despite the 5-0 lead of the guests.

The Red Sox got off to a dream start in Camden Yards: Andrew Benintendi and J.D. Martinez beat home runs in the first inning, Mookie Betts took a 3-run shot against starter Dylan Bundy in the second section. But all that was in the end for nothing.

In the second inning the tarpaulin was taken out and the infield was covered. The rain made it impossible to continue playing, so that the Umpire crew finally broke off the game completely. Since no 4 ½ innings had been played yet and the home team was not in front, the game is completely deleted from the history books as if it had never started.

This in turn caused displeasure among the Red Sox. Manager Alex Cora said after the game: “It happened only two days ago. A rain break with two outs in the first inning. And today was the day again. I’m not happy about this.”

Cora added: “It was hard. Rick Porcello had to wait a while in a game with two outs in the first inning and there too there was a rain break. But we look forward, come back tomorrow and do our thing.”

To make matters worse, the Red Sox wasted a start by left-handed David Price, who threw only eleven pitches and preferred not to play the weather forecast. He did not want to answer questions from reporters and only said, gnawed, that he would tweet about it, which he has not done so far.
