Andre Ethier has announced his resignation. The former All-Star will be honored and bid farewell by his former club, the Los Angeles Dodgers, in a ceremony in August.
The Dodgers announced the move on Wednesday and will celebrate their long-time ex-player for the last time on August 3 before the game against Houston Astros at Dodger Stadium.
“I look forward to returning to Los Angeles and Dodger Stadium – places I have fortunately been able to call my home for the last twelve years,” Ethier said in a statement.
Ethier was an all-star twice and spent his entire MLB career with the Dodgers. The outfielder was acquired in a trade for Milton Bradley and Antonio Perez in December 2005. In the past two years, however, numerous injuries have limited his operating time to 36 games. After that he became a free agent and found no new team.
Ethier’s last at-bat in the MLB came in game 7 of the World Series against the Astros. He managed a single as Pinch-Hitter, but the Astros won 5:1 and won the series.
