The Washington Nationals have put Stephen Strasburg on the Disabled List. The right-handed person was recently activated by the same person. An exact diagnosis has yet to be made.
Strasburg made a comeback on 20 July after a two-week injury break due to an inflammation in his pitching shoulder, but did not look at all good in the defeat against the Atlanta Braves. Strasburg made six earned runs in 4 2/3 innings.
Why Strasburg landed on the DL again is still unclear. However, initial speculation points to renewed problems on the shoulder. His next start would have been on Thursday in Miami, instead of his Tommy Milone will probably start now.
Strasbourg has already been thrown back several times by injuries. In 2010 he already had a Tommy John Surgery with which he missed almost the entire 2011 season.
Strasbourg is in the second year of a seven-year contract worth 175 million dollars, earning 15 million dollars this season and 35 million dollars in 2019.
