MLB: Bucket on the head saves spectators

Lucky for a Chicago Cubs fan: During Tuesday’s match against the Arizona Diamondbacks (5-1 snakes), part of the legendary Wrigley Field scoreboard fell right on a viewer’s head. However, he escaped more serious injuries because he wore a bucket on his head.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the 19-year-old was hit by a falling tile. The Cubs themselves later stated that the item was a 15 to 20 centimetre long metal bolt.

Cubs spokesman Julian Green told the newspaper that the fan had a cut on his head and was taken to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center. There the wound was closed with five clips.

Green also confirmed that the plastic bucket the fan had on his head prevented worse.

Why the fan wore a bucket on his head is not known.
