NBA: Irving on his infection: “Two long months”

Kyrie Irving has commented on the progress made after his knee surgery. He reckoned that he would soon be completely fit again. However, the rehab was cumbersome and a worse infection was prevented in time.

“That was two damn long months,” Irving said during a personal training session on Thursday. Irving had been operated on at the beginning of April due to an infection in her knee and as a result had missed the rest of the season.

“Usually you play it down when you have an infection,” Irving continued. “But I had it in a place that’s hard to get to.” Due to an older injury and surgery, wires and screws were still in Irving’s knees. They were responsible for the infections.

Irving had to take antibiotics for two months after the operation. However, he was lucky in spite of everything: “It could also have developed into a staphylococcal infection. But it was discovered in time and prevented.”

Irving now expects to be completely fit again at the start of the Celtics Training Camp and looks forward to leading the young Celtics team.
