NFL: Giants: OBJ contract extension in prospect

Odell Beckham waived a holdout despite his wish to be awarded a new contract. Now the Wide Receiver could be rewarded by the New York Giants.

As New York Giants owner John Mara told NFL Network, the Giants will “sooner rather than later” talk to Beckham’s agents about a new contract. Mara had not set a time frame for this, but he hoped “to do it”.

Beckham enters the final season of his rookie contract and will earn $8.459 million in 2018. Given the recent contracts Wide Recievers have signed with their teams, OBJ is likely to demand a monster deal.

Mara explained that Beckham’s appearance at the training camp was an important factor in the team’s desire to retain the Wideout. In the spring, the owner didn’t see any time pressure for a deal.

Beckham returns from a severe Achilles tendon injury this year. The goal for the receiver is to get fit in time for Week 1.
