How will Kawhi Leonard handle the situation with the Toronto Raptors? Coach Nick Nurse was optimistic and spoke of a good first conversation, which the trainer had had with the new Star-Forward.
“I sat down with him and asked him if he had any questions,” coach Nurse told the Toronto star about the conversation with Leonard last weekend. “The questions just bubbled out of him and a pleasant conversation arose. I didn’t expect that.”
Around the trade from Leonard to Toronto there was uncertainty whether the multiple defensive player of the year would even want to appear for the Raptors. Later it was said, however, that Leonard was looking forward to the task in Canada.
“He’s very smart, very intelligent and full of it,” Nurse continued. “We could have talked for hours. Our management kept knocking on the door. It was really fun to listen to him.”
It is said to have been about many tactical things and how Nurse will use the superstar in the future. The coach is said to have assured Leonard that the forward will get a lot of freedom and the offense will be designed around the claw.
Leonard missed most of last season due to a quadriceps injury, but Toronto expects Kawhi to be fit again by the start of the training camp. According to ESPN, the All-Star has passed the medical check with the Raptors at least once.
