Dwyane Wade has still not made a decision about his future. If it goes to Pat Riley, the president of Miami Heat, Wade is to return to South Beach for the coming season.
“I hope that both will have made a decision by mid-August,” Riley said in a conference call, referring to Wade and Heat veteran Udonis Haslem. “We spoke to Dwyane and his agent. “The best thing we can do is just give him a little more time.” Wade was last on the road in China and was accordingly busy, as Riley admitted.
There have even been rumours recently that the Shooting Guard will continue his career in China. A scenario that Riley wouldn’t like. “I want Dwyane back as a player. I’m reading more and more articles about Dwyane that he no longer has the motivation, but I see a player who can have a big influence on a game if he wants to.”
Wade would not take on the role of a veteran in Miami who is merely a mentor in the locker room. “We don’t want him as a placeholder,” Riley assured. “Dwyane is a great player who can make a difference for us.”
Wade returned to Intermezzos in Chicago and Cleveland on South Beach in February. For the heat Flash played 12 points and 3.1 assists as Sixth Man from the bank for the rest of the season.
