Boxing: Tyson Fury announces World Cup fight against Wilder

Tyson Fury has announced on his official Twitter profile that he will enter the ring against WBC champion Deontay Wild in the near future. According to the 29-year-old former world champion, talks with the Wilder management are already well advanced.

“I am a man of my word. And if I say I will fight, then I will fight. The negotiations are well advanced and the deal is almost complete,” Fury said in a video on his Twitter page.

However, the Klitschko conqueror is currently preparing for a fight with the German-Italian Francesco Pianeta on August 18. The 2.06-meter dome described him as an “ideal opponent” for the fight against the US-American: “I will flatten him and then let’s dance, Wilder”, said Fury.

Only in June Fury had made his comeback in the ring against the Albanian Sefer Seferi and won the fight in round 4. Earlier, the “Gipsy King” had already announced the end of his career twice and revoked it shortly afterwards. In an interview he said that he had been diagnosed with manic depression and subsequently relinquished his WBO, WBA and IBO World Championship titles.

Deontay Wilder, on the other hand, is still undefeated in 40 fights in his career. In his last World Cup fight the American defended his WBC title by technical knockout in the tenth round against his Cuban challenger Luis Ortiz. Thereupon he was supposed to meet Anthony Joshua in a unification match of all heavyweight titles, but he is now competing against compulsory challenger Alexander Povetkin.
