MLB: Newcomb scratches right past No-No

Sean Newcomb missed a No-Hitter in his Atlanta Braves’ 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. It wasn’t until two outs in the ninth inning that Chris Taylor broke off his attempt to make history.

With two outs in the ninth inning and a 2-2-count, Taylor made a single into Left Field, ending the day for Newcomb. The left-hander pitched 8 2/3 innings (H, ER, BB) and came out with eight strikeouts. To get an out he missed the fourth No-Hitter 2018 in the MLB.

Taylor then scored his team’s only run after Manny Machado’s RBI single against Reliever Dan Winkler, who ended the game.

The runs of the Braves, however, were provided by Nick Markakis with an RBI double in the first inning and a 2-run homerun in the third. Kurt Suzuki also contributed an RBI double in the first.
