NBA: Media: Knicks want to trade Guard

Courtney Lee is actually under contract with the New York Knicks for another two years, but he may be playing with another team next season.

According to a New York Post report, the Knicks tried to trade the 32-year-old shooting guard over the summer. One reason for this is that they want to make room for Tim Hardaway Jr. in his traditional position – last season he mostly had to play Small Forward alongside Lee.

Lee still earns $25 million over the next two years, but is still considered a prolific two-way player. Last season he scored 12 points on average for the Knicks and scored 40.6 percent of his three.

Lee has played for the Magic, Nets, Rockets, Celtics, Grizzlies and Hornets throughout his career. His biggest success so far was a final with Orlando in 2009, his rookie season. According to the report, his status is currently unclear, but he is unlikely to play a major role in the future of the young Knicks.
