NFL: Peterson apparently has a new club

The Washington Redskins apparently signed Adrian Peterson. This is reported by NFL Network insiders Ian Rapaport and Mike Garafolo. Peterson was released by the Arizona Cardinals in March and had been a free agent ever since.

The Redskins are responding to the ongoing injury concerns with the imminent commitment. Derrius Guice, Samaje Perine and Byron Marshall had already injured themselves in the first two preparatory games.

“We had a very unfortunate situation with our running backs,” explained head coach Jay Gruden. “If anything else happens, we’ll be pretty thin. We want to make sure that we cover all positions well.”

Peterson’s former manager at cardinals Steve Keim overcame doubts about the 33-year-old’s fitness status in February: “There is no doubt that Adrian still has juice in his tank. He still runs with a lot of anger and aggression.”
