NFL: Bridgewater-Trade: Two teams interested?

The quarterback situation with the New York Jets is becoming increasingly acute and the question arises more and more frequently: is Teddy Bridgewater still leaving the jets? Also the rumour mill is bubbling more and more, in the meantime some teams are supposed to show concrete interest.

This is reported in the New York Daily News. According to the newspaper, “at least two teams” have expressed interest in a trade for Bridgewater. The Daily News also reports that the jets have already made it clear to the other 31 teams that they are willing to sell Bridgewater for the right price. It is said that there have already been several concrete discussions about this.

Managing Director Mike Maccagnan was also impressed by the willingness to trade: “Nothing prevents us from starting the season with three quarterbacks and nothing prevents us from keeping just two. We’re glad we have three quarterbacks we really like. Again, we can easily hold three quarterbacks, and if something should turn up, we could also go into the season with two quarterbacks.”

The current preseason has resulted in an exciting quarterback situation in New York: Bridgewater stands for 212 yards and two touchdowns after two games at 17 completions (23 passes), but above all he was able to show that he is fully back after his severe knee injury. The 25-year-old moves well and safely in the pocket and could show his Accuracy in the new West Coast Offense of the jets.

At the same time, however, New York’s first-round rookie Sam Darnold convinced those responsible in such a way that the signs point to Darnold as the Week 1 starter. Bridgewater, who signed a one-year contract with the Free Agency in New York, would hardly have a chance to see starter snaps in the coming season.

The third in the group is veteran Josh McCown, who a few weeks ago – when Darnold and Bridgewater brought along many more question marks – was actually regarded as a sure starter. McCown has an extremely high internal reputation and is likely to remain a mentor for Darnold, while Bridgewater’s trade value is currently rising week by week.
