For Buster Posey, the season could end early. According to the San Francisco Giants’ wrestler, he is facing a hip operation that would take a long break.
Posey said on Tuesday that he was considering the operation to fix the hip problems that have been impeding him for months.
“When you’re dealing with an injury, it brings frustration,” Posey told reporters. “I’m very hesitant right now because I hate reading things when I feel people are talking and there’s some excuse no matter what it is. “But yes, considering where we are in the table, it makes it even harder.”
The Giants are currently 8 1/2 games behind the leaders in the National League West and 7 1/2 behind the wildcard.
Posey recently received an injection of cortisone and missed the All-Star game in mid-July.
Meanwhile, General Manager Bobby Evans admitted regarding an operation: “We have discussed this possibility.”
Posey himself said of his condition: “Some days are better than others. Some days the hip is moody. Right now, we watch from day to day. “We’ll see what it’ll be like tomorrow and then the day after.”
Meanwhile, the Giants are concerned about the right time for an intervention. Manager Bruce Bochy said: “If we get it done, there will be extensive rehabilitation afterwards. And that would take quite a while. So let’s make sure we do it right.”
