NFL: Eagles: Foles probably remains starter

Nick Foles is likely to lead the Philadelphia Eagles as starting quarterback against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday. Carson Wentz must obviously continue to wait for his comeback.

As NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported, the rehabilitation of the former starter has gone well so far, but the Eagles do not want to take any unnecessary risks.

Wentz had the anterior cruciate ligament and the lateral ligament in his left knee in December 2017. Backup Foles led Philadelphia to the Super Bowl and was elected MVP.

Besides Wentz, wide receiver Alshon Jeffery will probably also miss the season opener of the Eagles. The 28-year-old underwent rotator cuff surgery.
