MLB: Star-Manager locked after clearance

Major League Baseball has suspended manager Aaron Boone of the New York Yankees. Boone was expelled from the field Friday against the Detroit Tigers (7-5 New York) after an outburst against the Home Plate Umpire.

Boone will serve the suspension as early as Sunday in the fourth game of the series against the Tigers.

Boone had been expelled from the field because he had complained about Home Plate Umpire Nic Lentz’s strike zone for a long time and loudly. Afterwards Boone really freaked out, imitated a wrestler and is said to have addressed some vocabulary to the referee that was not free of juveniles.

This is Boone’s third ejection this season in his first year as MLB manager. “Do your job,” Boone called out to Lentz, among others. In his catcher imitation, he said: “This is a ball. It’s a strike. Okay?”

Boone then said with a wink to reporters: “I hadn’t done stretching yet, so I wanted to make sure I was relaxed. I think what was something my kids can make fun of now.”

The MLB also announced that Boone will have to pay an unspecified fine.
