The hope of the New York Yankees that Outfielder Aaron Judge will come back from his broken wrist this season has grown again. Last year’s rookie of the year swung the bat for the first time on Monday.
Judge made 25 dry swings on Monday, i.e. swings without contact with a ball and afterwards 25 swings of a tea. And he swung with almost 100 percent intensity. He then said that the wrist felt “great”.
“It’s definitely a big step. I’m excited,” Judge told reporters. “It’s about what I wanted to achieve. “I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made so far.”
Judge also made it clear, however: “It is still broken, so it continues to cause pain. But all in all, I feel great. “I’m glad I can start swinging and do more in general.”
Judge was also carried away by a small forecast: “Hopefully I will be back on the pitch in a week or two. We’ll see.”
Judge has been on the Disabled List since July 27 after being hit by a pitch from Jakob Junis of the Royals on his wrist and having suffered a blast fracture.
