NBA: Media: Miami extended with Heat Legend

Udonis Haslem will keep the Miami Heat for another season. The Associated Press reports that both parties have signed a contract for 2.4 million dollars.

Haslem will also spend his 16th NBA season in his hometown of Miami. Haslem hardly plays any more (last season: 14 bets, 0.6 points), but the Heat see him as the cornerstone of their franchise.

“When players come here and we want to show them what defines a Miami Heat player, we point to Udonis Haslem,” head coach Erik Spoelstra recently explained.

Haslem, who was drafted in 2003, was the only player to participate in all three Heat Championships alongside Dwyane Wade. For several years now, however, he has been part of the team, mainly because of his presence in the cabin.

The Heat now have a squad seat reserved for Wade. The former superstar has still not decided whether he wants to continue his career, but he has stressed that if he did, he would only play in Miami.
