After his great unification fight against Joseph Parker, Anthony Joshua will defend his four world championship belts for the first time on 22 September. There he will meet former world champion Alexander Povetkin (live at DAZN). Here you’ll learn everything you need to know about the fight and the transmission.
Actually Joshua had planned an unification fight against Deontay Wilder, which holds the last belt in heavyweight, that of the WBC. Now, however, he has to fight Povetkin, who is the obligatory challenger of the WBA.
The match will take place at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday, 22 September, from 11 pm. There Joshua already defeated Vladimir Klitschko.
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland the fight will be broadcast exclusively by the streaming portal DAZN. The broadcast starts at 7 pm with the preliminaries.
In addition to this fight, DAZN will be showing numerous other top-class boxing events, such as the duel for the best middleweight between Saul “Canelo” Álvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golowkin on 16 September and many MMA-Bellator events. DAZN costs 9,99 Euro per month, but before that you can get a free trial month.
So far Anthony Joshua has won every one of his 21 professional matches, but in his last duel against Joseph Parker, he was not knocked out for the first time. The Briton was only declared the winner on points. Now he has to prove against Povetkin that he is also the new dominator in boxing, given his collection of world champion belts.
In 2011 Alexander Povetkin won the WBA World Championship and defended it four times before Vladimir Klitschko defeated him. This was his only defeat so far. Afterwards he fought his way back to the top and now has another chance for a world champion belt. Since the Russian is already 39 years old, this is probably his last chance. A second defeat would probably not give him the chance and time to attack at the top again.
