Golf: All important information about the Ryder Cup

This year’s Ryder Cup will be held from 28 September to 30 September. SPOX gives an overview of the team golf tournament between the USA and Europe and gives you all the important information about the organization, transmission and nominees of the two teams.

All participants of the tournament have been confirmed. At the end of September, the prestigious tournament, which is held every two years, will move on to the next round.

The tournament will be played on the Le Golf National golf course in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. The city is located about 30 kilometers southwest of Paris. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday 28 September. The winner will be announced on Sunday, 30 September.

The Ryder Cup was first held in 1927. Since then, there has been a power struggle every two years, alternately on European and American soil.

The Ryder Cup will be played in match play mode. 28 games are played in three different modes.

For every match won you get one point, a draw leads to the division of points. It takes 14.5 points to win the Ryder Cup.

If the tournament ends 14:14, the cup remains with the defending champion.

Pay TV channel Sky will broadcast the entire tournament from 28 to 30 September. Starting on September 25, the sports channel will also be showing some of the tournament’s pre-matches. Furthermore, some excerpts can also be followed on Sky’s live stream.

The last wildcard to be awarded by the US team went to Tony Finau. The first three wildcards were received by Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau. But the world leader is playing for the European team this year: Olympic champion Justin Rose has displaced Dustin Johnson from first place.
