MLB: Minnesota legend considers resigning after season

Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins has admitted that he could retire at the end of the season. He had to “sit down and think about it,” said the former MVP on Wednesday.

Talking to the star tribune, Mauer said he had already talked to a few people about the subject. However, there will be further discussions before he reaches a final decision.

“It’s about more than just the question:’Do you want to play?'”, Mauer said, adding: “There are many factors that play into this. I owe it to my family and myself to settle down and think about it.”

Mauer emphasized: “It’s a big decision and I want to make sure that I am behind it 100 percent.”

Mauer is in the last year of an eight-year contract worth 184 million dollars, which he signed in 2010. Mauer has been playing in the MLB and for the Minnesota Twins for 15 years.

His health will play an important role in the decision, as will his family. “I had a concussion and the third baby is on its way. There are various things to consider. “I want to take a deep breath and then think straight.”
