MLB: Shoulder dislocated: Season off for Pittsburgh star

Bad news for the Pittsburgh Pirates: Outfielder Gregory Polanco was diagnosed with a dislocated right shoulder and needed surgery. His season is over.

Polanco took the injury to second base in an accidental slide against the Marlins on Friday. The operation took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York on Wednesday.

It is unclear how long Polanco will be out of action and whether it will be ready for the start of Spring Training 2019. The Pirates have not yet provided any information on this.

Polanco beat 23 home runs (career record) in 130 games this season. He also reached 81 RBI and had an average stroke of .254.
