The New England Patriots have signed Wide Receiver Josh Gordon by trade from the Cleveland Browns. It could be used in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions.
The Pats have agreed a deal with the Browns for the 27-year-old: The Patriots make a conditional five-round pick to Cleveland. If Gordon is not in the active squad for ten games, the Pats get a low pick back in return.
Gordon reinforces the decimated Receiving Corps of the five-time Super Bowl Champion, especially since Tom Brady’s favourite target Julian Edelman is still closed for two weeks.
However, it remains to be seen how Gordon will get along with Patrios coach Bill Belichick. Gordon has struggled with drugs and alcohol over the past few years and since 2014 has only completed a total of eleven missions in the NFL.
The Browns told me they’d split up with Gordon before Week 2. “For the past six years, the Browns have always supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally,” said GM John Dorsey: “We only wanted the best for him, but now we have reached a point where it is better to go our separate ways.
Originally there was talk of a dismissal, but now the Browns (0-1-1) have decided to trade. The Patriots (1-1) had clearly lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
