MLB: Historical! Red’s victim of “repeat offenders”

Christian Yelich did it again! The Milwaukee Brewers outfielder was cycling for the second time this season. And like the first time, the Cincinnati Reds were the “victim” – never before.

Never before has a player beaten two cycles in a season against the same team. Yelich did the trick on Tuesday after he had already made a single, double, triple and home run against Cincy on August 30.

Moreover, Yelich is only the fifth player with several cycles within a season.

“There were so many great players in the game,” said Yelich, who came to Wisconsin from the Miami Marlins in the off-season by trade and continued, “This just shows how crazy it all is. It takes a lot of luck. It’s hard enough to make four hits at all in a major league baseball game, and then all the right hits in the right sequence.”

Yelich beat a single in the first inning, a double in the third and a 2-run-homerun in the fifth. In the sixth inning he finally managed the triple, with which he brought home two more runs. Altogether Yelich was 4-4 (4 RBI) and was finally substituted in the eighth inning as a reward.

The Brewers won their home game in Miller Park 8-0, still three games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals in the wildcard and 2.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.
