NFL: After drama against the Packers: Minnesota Vikings dismiss kicker Daniel Carlson

The Minnesota Vikings have fired Daniel Carlson. The five-round pick had missed three field goal attempts against the Green Bay Packers, including two potential overtime game winners.

Carlson had only prevailed against veteran Kai Forbath in the training camp of the Vikings and argattert a place in the team. Carlson had already awarded two field goal attempts in the third preseason game. Even then, Head Coach Mike Zimmer explained that he was worried about the young kicker.

Carlson will most likely be replaced by Dan Bailey. The 30-year-old was unexpectedly released by the Dallas Cowboys before the season and will undergo a medical examination in Minnesota. The second most accurate kicker in NFL history (88.2 percent) is to sign a one-year contract with the Vikings. This is reported by NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
