The Boston Red Sox are not yet official champions of the American League East 2018, but a banner for Fenway Park has already been created. Fans discovered the title symbol after it had apparently fallen off the truck.
The three friends Louie Iacuzzi, James Amaral and Randy Baldasarri met in Somerville/Massachusetts on Monday for coffee, as they told WFXT-TV. They found a larger object on the street and decided to inspect it more closely.
The men, all Red Sox fans, removed the wrapping paper and found the division title banner for 2018. They had previously thought they were jerseys.
A Red Sox spokesman told the TV station that the banner had probably fallen from a supplier’s truck. The team sent a courier to bring the banner to its planned destination.
However, the banner cannot be officially unveiled yet, because after the 1:10 bankruptcy of the Sox against the New York Yankees Boston still has to wait a bit for the East title.
