Tragic accident after the Boston Red Sox game with the New York Yankees on Wednesday: A Red Sox fan died trying to surf home on a train.
Michael Vigeant, 24, was electrocuted when he tried to board a Metro-North train. The man from Hudson/New Hampshire came into contact with the overhead line on the line from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx to New Haven/Connecticut. They reported to officials of the train company and passengers according to a New York Post report.
The train left the station at Yankee Stadium shortly before 11 pm local time and Vigeant and his brother tried to climb onto the roof between Larchmont and Mamaroneck in New York State. That’s when the accident happened.
Vigeant touched the contact wire and must have died instantly. Passengers reported that they were stranded on a stationary train for more than two hours. Speakers of the train operator, however, spoke of a stop time of 30 to 40 minutes, while the train crew saved the surviving brother. The train arrived in New Haven at about 3:20 a.m. on Thursday.
