NBA: About Butler: Power struggle among the Wolves?

A few days ago it became known that Jimmy Butler allegedly wants to leave the Minnesota Timberwolves. Now there are obviously disagreements among the franchise managers as to how the situation should be dealt with.

According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the front office of coach/GM Tom Thibodeau has rejected Jimmy Buckets. The franchise is not planning to trade the four-time All-Star.

A completely different news seems to spread team owner Glen Taylor. At the Board of Governors’ meeting, the 77-year-old rival team had made it clear that Butler was indeed available.

According to Wojnarowski, Taylor had said that the teams interested in the Shooting Guard should contact him themselves with trade suggestions, not the front office. Allegedly he wants to finish the Butler saga as quickly as possible and get rid of the 29-year-old.

Accordingly, some insiders seem to assume that the conflict between Taylor and Thibodeau could be a reason for Butler’s wish to change. Should there actually be a power struggle within the organization, however, the chances for Thibodeau would not be particularly good.

“The owner will trade him,” an anonymous participant of the meeting told ESPN. “He made that clear to everyone. The question is when.” Taylor himself did not want to comment on the report.
